Vogue India|Going Home 5*

"I've never seen such an intense 6 minute film. From the moment I pressed play I was instantly hooked".





A group of rough looking men approaching a naive women, alone and with no get away would normally in a film result in one thing... sexual abuse. Although, in this short film Vogue captured the possible threats and manipulated the audience into thinking the worst when the outcome is positive and up lifting. This plot change is controlled by the woman and her views on the world that she thinks exists.

The use of sound effects has a huge impact on the film, which I believe is why it was so successful in instantly hooking the audience. The beating heart sound intensified the film in parts which made me think something terrible was going to happen and just as the moment was built up enough, the sound quickly changed into an upbeat song. Watching this short film was really an emotional roller coaster, not knowing until the final second if the women would get home safe. 

For a film that is so short and on such a small scale my expectations were wrongly low and I was gladly proven wrong. The film had a strong message to all, and is massively under rated. 5/5

Analyse the conventions that define the films genre (10 marks). Isn’t it Romantic a Netflix original film, presents itself accordingly to the conventions of a typical romantic comedy. Isabella Isabella, is set to hit the big screen in summer 2019. I'm looking forwards to this film because it is horror and being my favourite genre this really wets my appetite. The trailers shows the film as a typical jump scare horror, with hauntings and possessions, which in my opinion a film like this hasn't been released in a while, adding to my excitement.

The Joker The denotation of the Joker creates the image of a psychopath with an extravagant image. The Joker uses his extreme appearance and behavior to defy typical representations such as social and economic class, age and sexuality. His face paint, green hair and unusual costumes disturbs viewers by confusing them while creating a sense of mystery because he's such a complex character but meanwhile being so present and simple to understand. His villainous character plays on what he believes to be social righteousness when in fact his judgement is clouded by his sinister experiences and criminal objectives. The way he behaves is supported by the music used; eerie melodies with dark sound effects pair up with every scene that he is in, contributing to his villainous motives.
